Intercem Conference Dhaka, Bangladesh

INTERCEM is delighted to announce that this November, the world’s leading cement industry event will convene in Bangladesh for INTERCEM Dhaka. Bangladesh is the world’s biggest clinker import market, importing almost 19 million tonnes of clinker in 2018 from all across Asia and the Indian Ocean, from Saudi Arabia in the West to Japan in the East. It is difficult to overstate the importance of Bangladesh to the international cement market; as this rapidly growing economy invests in new housing and infrastructure projects, the country’s lack of limestone reserves mean that Bangladesh has provided a ready export market for clinker from across South East Asia, the Indian subcontinent and the Gulf. Demand for cement in the country has grown 9 – 10% every year for almost a decade but is still at a relatively low 166kg per capita – suggesting that increasing demand, and by extension imports, could continue well into the 2020s. Taking place in association with the Bangladesh Cement Manufacturers Association (BCMA) and attended and supported by Bangladeshi cement producers, INTERCEM Dhaka will provide a forum for cement industry executives from across the region to meet, network and access market-leading presentations and forecasts on developments in Bangladesh and across Asia.
